Social therapeutic workshops as a Possibility of an Integration of Mentally Disabled People

The thesis is focused on the service of the social therapeutic workshop as one of the possible support for the integration of persons with intellectual disabilities into the normal life. In the first part of my thesis I summarize the theoretical knowledge regarding characteristics of mental disability. The next chapter deals with the integration of people with mental disabilities, their needs and rights, including the possible disadvantages in some spheres of everyday life. Followed by defining services to socialy therapeutic workshops. At the conclusion of the theoretical part is devoted to the support of individual areas. The aim of the empirical section is to characterize the role of social therapeutic workshops in the integration of people with mental disabilities into the normal life. From the results obtained it follows that the socially therapeutic workshops may have for the user a positive contribution in the various areas of their life and this also could theoretically lead to easier integration into the life of ordinary society. However this benefit is highly dependent on the individual abilities of each individual and also depends on the degree and depth of thein disability. Impact of sheltered housing social service on its clients

The diploma thesis topic is an impact analysis of how social services affects clients of community living for disabled people. The main goal of this thesis is to answer a question whether the social service leads to decrease of its range. The clients sample of 12 was selected from those who use the service longest. The data analysis of individual service records complemented with qualitative quality available data confirmed the assumed hypothesis. The initial hypothesis assumed that 80% of clients who use the community living for disabled people the longest lead to decreased the need of provided services. The secondary goal of this thesis is to suggest options how to improve the efficiency of provided services to the service providers. Education and Perspectives of the Youth and Adults with Intellectual Disabilities in Employment

This thesis "Educational and occupational perspektive of adolescents and adult people with disabilities" outlines the educational system for the people with disabilites, their employment and work placement options. Characteristics of the Waldorf Elementary and High school points out specialities and attitudes of the Waldofr's pedagogy and anthroposophic view towards the people with disabilities with the aim to present its implication on the posibilities of the people with disabilities on the following education and work placement. The outcome of the questionaire placed in Waldorf elementary and high school reflects the assertion of graduates after leaving the school, interviews with teachers of practical traning and the head of the workshop Jinan. The aim of this thesis is to emphasizes the importance of education and work placement for the people with disabilities, necessary in order to cultivate and enrich their lives.

The comprehensive rehabilitation methods on the mentally disabled in south bohemia.

The comprehensive rehabilitation provides complex care to disabled individuals using all types of therapeutic approaches that are part of the comprehensive rehabilitation. These are medical, educational, social and occupational approaches and the interconnection of all four of them is both vital and preferred. The comprehensive rehabilitation is beneficial for people with mental as well as physical and multiple disabilities. The use of the therapeutic approaches can be tailored to suit the individual needs of the disabled patients. The present bachelor thesis studies the comprehensive rehabilitation of individuals with mental disabilities. The theoretical part describes the coordinated rehabilitation as presented by various authors dealing with this topic. The first chapter defines the term "coordinated rehabilitation", the second explains the term "mental disability". The definition of mental disability also introduces the degrees of the disability, which include mild, moderate, severe and profound mental retardation. Basic definitions and information are given for all the above degrees. Chapters 3 6 describe the educational, occupational, medical and social therapeutic approaches of the comprehensive or coordinated rehabilitation, studying each approach in detail. Chapters 7 9 present South Bohemian rehabilitation facilities, especially those in the town of Ceske Budejovice namely ARPIDA, Bazalka, o.p.s. and Domov Libníč a Centrum sociálních služeb Empatie, describing all services provided by these facilities. All the facilities provide specialized care for people with mental, physical and multiple disabilities. The thesis aims to determine whether South Bohemian rehabilitation facilities make sufficient use of the comprehensive rehabilitation approaches and, in general, of all available resources in providing care to people with mental disabilities. The practical part deals with the research into methods used in the comprehensive rehabilitation facilities in South Bohemia, chiefly in ARPIDA, Bazalka, o.p.s. and Domov Libníč a Centrum sociálních služeb Empatie. The practical part relies on a qualitative research conducted through semi-structured interviews. This research involved 6 respondents from ARPIDA, Bazalka, o.p.s. and Domov Libníč a Centrum sociálních služeb Empatie interviewed about the comprehensive rehabilitation methods to treat mentally disabled patients used in their facilities. A total of 10 pre-defined questions were used in the interview (the questions are given in the Annex to this thesis). Two respondents from each facility willing to participate in the research were chosen for the interviews. With their consent, their responses were recorded and the content of the responses was then transcribed. The results of the research imply that South Bohemian rehabilitation facilities, especially those of ARPIDA, Bazalka, o.p.s. and Domov Libníč a Centrum sociálních služeb Empatie, make sufficient use of all comprehensive rehabilitation therapeutic approaches to treat people with mental disabilities, with quality care provided by qualified personnel. Another conclusion shown by the research results is that the rehabilitation of mentally disabled patients relies heavily on occupational, social and educational therapeutic approaches, leaving medical rehabilitation slightly less accented. Medical therapeutic approach is used mainly to treat mentally disabled patients with associated physical disabilities or for individuals where medical therapy was prescribed by a physician. The thesis could serve as a resource for students dealing with comprehensive rehabilitation or with mentally disabled individuals. Furthermore, the thesis may help people with mental disabilities and their families in choosing a suitable rehabilitation facility in South Bohemia as it provides information on the facilities, on the services they provide and on the comprehensive rehabilitation therapeutic approaches used.
